New Media in the Art Classroom

Participants will explore various ways of expanding the classroom with
technology. Learn to create and maintain an online gallery of work
using AEContent and other free services for educators. We’ll also
discuss effective Internet use, online safety, technology issues, and
multimedia. Bring some digital images or work you’d like to scan.

There is a lot going on at MassArt this week. The Massart Holiday Sale, featuring works of Glass, Jewelry, Painting, Ceramics, Wood,
Photography, Sculpture, Fibers and more created by Massart students and
alumni runs through December 10th,
Tower Lobby, 10am-7pm.
Also on campus, the Saturday Studios Show in the Arnheim
Gallery, featuring the student work (grades 4-12) from the Art Ed
Saturday Studios program. Exhibition December 5-10. Reception: Dec.
10th, 11:30-noon
In the Bakalar Gallery; BRAUN: 50 Years of Design, an exhibition of approximately 70 objects spanning the past 5 decades,
shows the industrial design development process from brainstorm to
finished product. November 30, 2005 through January 14, 2006
Also on campus, Saturday December 10th, the Punk Rock Flea Market. 10- 5pm, $1 admission. Lots of off-beat vendors. Gymnasium. |

Teaching for Artistic Behavior: Choice-based art education Instructor: Kathy Douglas

Participants at this workshop (held Dec. 10, 2005) learned about Choice-based teaching and
how it can incorporate the learning standards and art frameworks in a
meaningful way. Developed in Massachusetts classrooms over
twenty five years, and through courses and research at the
Massachusetts College of Art, Teaching for Artistic Behavior allows
students to experience the work of the artist through teaching that is
responsive to their needs and interests.
