OVERVIEW: Students will experiment with mark-making by using a variety of drawing and computer generated textures.

Grades: 10-12

OVERVIEW: Students will experiment with mark-making by using a variety of drawing and computer generated textures.

GOALS: . to explore the use of various drawing tools and media
. to create images which are both drawn and computer generated
. to use nonrepresentational images to create surface variety
. to manipulate line, value, shape, texture, and pattern to design an image
. to incorporate images into a series of connected ideas

PROCEDURE: . experiment with various drawing tools, media (ink, charcoal, pencil,
frisket)
. experiment with Photoshop and new media to create textural imaes,
overlays, and unusual surface qualities such as fragmentations, pattern,
movement, etc.)
. use the visual language of the elements of art (line, value, texture,
shape/form) or use the language of new media (interactivity, non-
linearity, connectivity) to alter the “surface”
. drawings may be scanned and altered further or computer images may
be changed by drawing and collaging
. create six images that have a connection to one another that is physical,
virtual, or both
. consider the composition and design of the final work

GRADING CRITERIA: ability to experiment with drawing & new media techniques, surface variety, composition & design format, connectivity, use of time
